Instructions for Enabling Multiplayer Split-Screen Mode in Fortnite

Would you like to engage in a Fortnite game session with a friend using a split-screen feature? Provided you have dual controllers and a reliable internet link, you can experience a two-player game on the same sofa. Sadly, this function is currently not supported on the Switch, PC, or mobile devices, but it's compatible with PlayStation or Xbox devices. Remember, this method does not permit sharing inventory. This tutorial will demonstrate the process of setting up a split-screen mode on Fortnite using a PS4, PS5, Xbox One, or Xbox Series X/S.

Step-by-step process

  1. Initiate a duos or squad game session in Fortnite. The incorporated split-screen mode enables you to have a two-player game on PlayStation or Xbox. Unfortunately, other platforms do not yet enjoy this support. It's important to note that the split-screen function only caters to local two-player games on the same console. For multiplayer gaming with other online enthusiastic players, it's possible to add friends or allow cross-play.
  2. Power up the other controller. You can do this by pressing the PlayStation's power emblem or the Xbox's icon, which then reveals the menu for user sign-in.
  3. Choose a new user. The secondary controller will be operating through this profile. After that, you'll return to the Fortnite interface, where you should be able to see [P2] login (HOLD) at the lower-right corner of the display screen.
  4. With the secondary controller, long-press the designated button. It's usually 'X' for PlayStation controllers and 'A' for Xbox controllers. After you log into the secondary account on Fortnite, it might take a few seconds to load. As soon as it's done, the avatar of the secondary account appears.
  5. Customize your constructions. Ordinarily, player 1 will be in command of the screen. To shift to player 2, long-press 'X' (for PlayStation) or 'A' (for Xbox) on the secondary controller. When player 2 is in control, a white border surrounds the screen. Reverting the control to player 1 is the same process, except that you use the first controller.
  6. Choose 'Ready.' The command is 'Triangle' (for PlayStation users) or 'Y' (for Xbox users). After the game loads in a split-screen format, player 1 will be positioned at the top while player 2 will be at the bottom. Now, you are set to enjoy a Fortnite game together in split-screen co-op mode.

If you meet any difficulties, ensure that your internet link is operational because the split-screen functionality may fail if the connection is lacking.
