"Roblox" is set to introduce fresh musical charts which will order songs based on listener interaction

Roblox has initiated a fresh and innovative music chart and has established an alliance with DistroKid, however, musicians will not earn direct revenue from the gaming platform. As disclosed by Billboard, in the advent of 2025, Roblox is set to introduce music charts marking the degree of interaction the tunes receive within the ambit of the platform.

A new gadget integrated within the game will allow players to identify the current track they are enjoying, irrespective of their location within the game experience. Players will gain insights into the song title, musician and even the option to endorse the respective song, according to the briefing by Manuel Bronstein, Roblox Chief Product Officer.

These charts will monitor the data to decipher which songs are trending, and present them to nearly 80 million habitual users of the platform. But the catch here lies in that, in spite of the in-game feature allowing music to play, it won't be a source of artists' royalty earnings. Rather, it functions as a conduit for exposure and potential monetization outside the platform. As a part of this collaboration between DistroKid and Roblox, musicians launching music through DistroKid need to sign up for the joint venture.

As explained by Billboard, the recent takeover of the UMG experience in Roblox by Zedd leaped in visits from 4,000 to 10,000 a day, negligible in comparison to games like Piggy, which has visitors up to a massive 2.7 million a day.

Additionally, allegations of Roblox exploiting children who contribute to developing platform experiences were refuted earlier this year. "One might argue that we're using child labour, on the contrary, we're offering people globally an opportunity to work and earn a living," commented Stefano Corazza, Roblox studio head.
