Hi-Fi Rush’s PS5 Version Looks “Slightly” Better Than Xbox Series X Version, as Per Analysis

As part of a broader strategy by Microsoft to share its exclusive titles with competing platforms, Hi-Fi Rush has transitioned onto the PS5, already enjoying a spot as a celebrated entry in the Xbox Series X/S catalog. While the game's visual and technical performance remains nearly identical between the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions, a detailed examination has revealed a subtle yet interesting advantage on the PS5.
Digital Foundry conducted a comprehensive analysis of Hi-Fi Rush on the PS5, revealing that the game exhibits remarkable similarity across the two consoles in many aspects such as texture quality, filtering, and detailed environmental representations. However, the PS5 version edges out its Xbox counterpart, specifically in the area of shadow rendering. Throughout the game, shadows appear at a higher resolution on the PS5, offering a slight enhancement in visual fidelity on this platform.
Despite this difference, the analysis clarifies that shadow quality is the sole distinction separating the performances on these platforms. This disparity, albeit minor, points out the slight graphical advantage Hi-Fi Rush enjoys on a platform outside of its original home.
In essence, while the advantage might be considered negligible by some, it presents an interesting scenario where a first-party title from Microsoft demonstrates superior graphical elements, albeit slight, on a rival console.
