Google Phone, Messages, & Contacts Get New Icons

In an attempt to fix mistakes of the past, Google is now approaching messaging with maximum seriousness. It has been working hard on RCS adoption for the purpose of enhancing their users’ cross-platform messaging experience.

Lately, the tech G-iant announced an extensive functionality overhaul for Google Messages. With regard to visual makeovers, it is represented by new icons for the Messages, Phone, and Contacts applications. As of today, the aforementioned features are only available via the beta channel. As for the new icons, they are in the process of going live and becoming widely available.

In comparison with the previous Messages and Contacts app icons, the new ones no longer incorporate shadows. Furthermore, the newly designed icons utilize a white background instead of blue. If you look at the updated icons of all three named applications, you’ll easily notice their visual uniformity and conclude that they belong to one and the same company. The added bonus is that the icons were designed to resonate perfectly with the rest icons on your home screen. Great job, Big G!

In addition to all this, the newly updated icons will work with the Material You theme. Therefore, their appearance will be adjusted to the wallpaper and theme you opt for your Android gadget. That’s what we call a customizable approach.

With regard to the new features that are coming live these days, the Google Messages users can now react to messages sent from iPhones. Also, if you receive a link to a YouTube video via Messages, you’ll be able to view it straight within the chat.

Furthermore, you’ll soon be able to star important messages within the Google Messages app. That way, you will no longer have to look for that vital information in your chats for hours. So, how do you like all these goodies? Aren’t you drooling for them in anticipation? Let it all out in the comments below. We’re looking forward to reading your opinion.
